It's Log, Log, Log!

I spent a couple of hours this evening reading through the bug logs.  My guestimate is that there were 250 bug reports awaiting categorizing!  I filed away around 50 – maybe a little less than that.  Some of the bugs were "one minute" fixes (correcting spelling errors, removing NPCs from under chairs).  The most popular bug that I have noticed has been the "Log Of Wood" bug.

This bug is very basic (and apparently it is also very common): a player attempting to harvest a log of wood who is then interrupted will typically lose the log of wood without any notification.  Wood behaves less like a log and more like a fragile balloon.

This will be the first script that I tackle for a V687 repair, making it better than bad.

  1. Oh I'm glad my spelling correction should be a one-minute fix. (Take that you guys that said it wasn't important!)

  2. @Lorikeet: It took longer to *find* the spelling error (there are a lot of masks in that area) than it was to apply the fix! ;) But yeah, it's done for V687!

  4. Interesting that finding typos takes so long. Can't you use some text search across files to find a typo ? It's something I do every day or nearly and I believe the amount of text I'm looking at might be slightly bigger than CL. Or is it that you don't have a repository of all scripts/sources ?

On the Wood stuff. I had the feeling a few storm ago that there was something changed, though now, I'm not so sure anymore. I really ran into 5 or 6 failed logs in a row just after a storm, then noticed the lack of chopping sound. But now ? Looks to me that it is ok again, but I can clearly be wrong (and that wouldn't be the first time)

  6. @necessarilytired: Yep! Moved her to the side for V687.

  7. Hmm reread your post (cause there was nothing new!) and I ran into a log yesterday, stood by it, wasn't interrupted, had no chopping sound, and it just poofed with no message. Just in case that's the same kind of bug message you are getting. ;)
